A Collaborative Memory Platform for Cultural Heritage
The MNEME project aims to validate and enhance the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH), supporting the digital transformation of Europe's cultural heritage sector through interoperable technologies and collaborative digital services. As museums, archives, archaeological sites and cultural institutions continue to digitise their collections, MNEME enables cultural heritage assets, including texts, images and 3D models, to be documented, connected and shared more effectively across institutions. Through five pilot sites in Greece, Spain, Slovenia, Italy and France, the project will demonstrate how digital technologies can improve documentation, preservation and public access to Europe's cultural heritage.
Building upon the core services of the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage, MNEME integrates semantic interoperability, AI-assisted metadata enrichment, knowledge graphs, robotic 3D digitisation, AR/VR experiences and FAIR data management practices. By validating these technologies in real-world environments and contributing reusable tools, workflows and recommendations to the ECCCH ecosystem in collaboration with ECHOES, the project aims to improve the way cultural heritage is preserved, connected and experienced by professionals, researchers, educators and the wider public.
